What is a cortisol blood test?
A cortisol test measures the level of cortisol, a stress hormone, in your blood to help diagnose conditions related to adrenal gland function. It’s done to diagnose conditions like Addison’s disease, Cushing’s syndrome, and adrenal insufficiency, or to assess stress response.
How and when will I get my test results?
Results are typically available within a few days. For patients booking their blood test through Travel Health, we will send the results to you by email. For patients referred by a private testing service for blood drawing and centrifuging, your results will be given by the provider you have booked with. Your healthcare provider will discuss the findings and any necessary next steps with you.
Will Travel Health analyse my cortisol test results?
We do not analyse blood test results or provide a diagnostic blood test service. However, we will be happy to send your results to a GP or health practitioner on your behalf.
When is the best time to book a cortisol test?
It is best to book your cortisol blood test between 8 am and 10 am after 30 minutes of rest. This will generate more accurate levels of cortisol in the bloodstream.
