What is Hepatitis A?
Hepatitis A is a contagious liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). It spreads through ingestion of contaminated food and water or close contact with an infected person. Symptoms include fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, jaundice, and fever. Most people recover fully without lasting liver damage, and a vaccine is available to prevent the infection.
